Ao Nang, In Krabi province, is a lovely place with lots of nature surrounding your hotel. Preserved from mass tourism, you will still be able to dive from there on the same dive sites as from Phuket. If you are a professional beach layer, then Phuket is a better destination for you. If you are a nature lover, if you enjoy riding a scooter to discover the hidden beauties of a place you don't know, then Ao Nang is definitely for you. The roads are safe, it cost  few pennies to take a taxi or a tuk tuk, and like every where in Thailand, people are friendly and love to give a positive image of them self to foreign visitors. And when you will have seen enough of the luxuriant vegetation, the huge monoliths rocks, there will still be 2 beaches to lay down and work on your sun tan: Ao nang and Nopharat Thara beach. Entertainment: just enough not to get bored. There are several irish pub with live bands, a few bars as you find in Phuket, but less noisy and well hidden. The beach road offers several restaurants. Ao Nang is a quiet place.

Shopping: tailors, hand crafts, etc....

Hotels: not a lot of hotels, you definitely must reserve in advanced your hotel in Ao nang.
